Farewell Lilly

Yvonne DeCarlo has died. Best known for portraying Lilly Munster on the iconic television series, "The Munsters," she passed away almost exactly one year after Al Lewis, who played Grandpa.

Fred Gwynne of course, died years ago. Wanna guess when?

Was it:
a.) 2002
b.) 1999
c) 1996
d.) 1993

The answer below.
Pat Priest and Butch Patrick are still living. But their careers are dead.

Am I the only one who remembers that there were some bizarre rumors about Butch Patrick? What was that? Of course he did go on to star in a fabulously weird drug-induced 1970's show called "Lidsville" with Charles Nelson Reilly and Billy Hayes as Witchipoo. Anyone? Anyone? The only thing I have been able to confirm is he was last seen recording the single, "Whatever Happened to Eddie?" (1983); living with his family in St. Petersburg, Florida; selling Woof-Woof dolls online.

Yup. Fred Gwynne died 14 years ago in 1993! His last movie was "My Cousin Vinny" in 1992. Can you believe that?

RIP Herman, Grandpa, and now... Lilly.

  1. Between the three older cast members, I figured Gwynne to live the longest. He looked pretty good in Vinny, must have been the cancer or something.

As for Eddie's career... I hope he lost that widow's peak. Anytime someone's hair comes to a point on their forehead, they get called Eddie Munster, which gave him pretty permanent pop culture recognition.

As for Yvonne, I had no idea it was she who played the wife of Moses in "10 Commandments." Dang!

  2. I'd never have been able to guess when Gwynne died... I didn't have a freakin' clue... Then again, I was only 13 when he died, so I'm not feeling too bad about my ignorance on the subject.

    :o)

  3. She always finds a way to remind you how young she is, doesn't she?

  4. Little known fact (well, it wasn't known to me until very recently) -- The showstopper song "I'm Still Here" from Follies was written by Stephen Sondheim specifically for Yvonne de Carlo. Did you know that?

  5. I did not know that, and it's one of my favorites!
