The idea for a book came to me several years ago, but I had convinced myself that it was just a passing thought that no one else could appreciate. However, as years pass, I stumble upon them again and again. Surely, someone else has been wondering...how do they get there? Shoes in the road. Sometimes a pair, though most times, not. Did someone have his or her feet out the window? Did a mischievous child toss them from the car? And why were they not retrieved by their owners? Didn't they notice they were suddenly barefoot? Who wore them before they were discarded? What stories could they tell?

So I plan to write a story of the souls of soles found along the highways of the world. Each has a past, each has walked through many lives, each has been forgotten, and each has a story.
Great idea. At one time, I had planned to become a bartender and publish a book of some of the stories customers would tell me. I'd call the book "Stories From Behind Bars."
ReplyDeleteNah, I could never be a bartender, I don't know enough drink recipes!
