Requirement #2

Ok. In addition to spending time in New England, everyone should be required to visit the Grand Canyon at least once.

No. Really. Like you can't vote, or you can't get your tax refund or you can't get your diploma or you can't become a citizen until you see it in person. It awes one into a whole new level of appreciation for our country. And no, the IMAX movie doesn't count.

I saw it this weekend for the first time. The Canyon, not the movie. I have travelled to several other countries, but had no idea until a few days ago that there was something so overwhelmingly magnificent in my own back yard, figuratively speaking.

It is considered the 7th Natural Wonder of the World. Any idea what the other six are? Think about it and click here to see how many you got right. By the way, the only other one I came up with was Niagara Falls, and as it turns out, that did NOT make the list so it's official: I really did sleep though high school.

And if you are just dying to see someone else's vacation photos, click here, and then find a support group.

  1. Now you've also made me curious about the man-made wonders, so off to Google I go.

I've never seen the Grand Canyon. If the requirement to see it prior to voting is retroactive, does that mean my vote for "W" in the last election doesn't count? Because I'd like to take that one back anyway.
