Should Ben's Boo-Boo Bounce Bonus Bucks?

There is a reason that Terry Bradshaw and Ben Roethlisburger don't speak anymore. That reason is now lying in a $20,000 junk heap in about 20,000 pieces while Roethlisburger lies in a few pieces too.

After the Cleveland Browns Kellen Winslow Jr. was injured in a motorcycle accident last year, Roethlisberger continued to ride (helmet free), and that ticked off Terry Bradshaw, who took the Steelers to four Super Bowl victories before Ben was riding tricycles. Bradshaw remarked: "Ride it when you retire."

Did Ben think he was indestructable? "I'll just continue to be careful... I don't ever ride alone, we always ride in a group of people, and I think it makes it even more safe." Was he riding in a group when he went through the windshield of that car yesterday?

Asked why he doesn't wear a helmet Roethlisberger said, "Obviously Pennsylvania doesn't think people need to (wear a helmet)," he said. "There's a law you've got to wear it in football."

Many NFL contracts prohibit engaging in dangerous activities, but Roethlisberger's deal apparently doesn't specifically ban motorcycle riding. However, should professional atheletes who are paid gazillions of dollars for doing exactly what they love have to pay back their bonus money or salaries when they make dumb-ass moves that risk their ability to perform? Show of hands, please!

  1. Ooh, ooh, pick me. Yes, if you have to wear a helmet in football, you should have to at LEAST wear one while riding a motorcycle, regardless of what the law says.
